Brandon + Courtney Luxury Pittsburgh Wedding
This Pittsburgh wedding features some of the city’s most iconic locations - Heinz Chapel, Pittsburgh Opera, Mt Washington, the Mellon Institute Columns, and one of our very favorite areas, the Strip District - and was an amazing collaboration between sooo many amazing local vendors. Don’t worry, they’ll all be listed below, but the first one I’m going to talk about is ironically a bridal salon where she *didn’t* get her dress and one of my favorite wedding related places to visit in town - Blanc de Blanc.
When Angalea was about to open her bridal salon, I volunteered to provide a session for her grand opening raffle. My date was one of my brides (Hey Cate!!), and we had a blast get to know everyone including wedding planner Emily of Em + E Events. She and I especially clicked, so I was thrilled when Angalea announced that Em had won my session giveaway!
This photo session turned into regular chatting and marked the beginning of a wonderful friendship. From margaritas to texting to watching wedding timelapse films, we stayed in touch, and before long I received a text from a groom named Brandon.
He was really excited that I encourage my clients to text me and said Emily had sent them our way - I was really excited to see a groom so involved in wedding planning, and loved that he was so enthusiastic about our photos!
Long story short, they booked.
I know I say this a lot, but we really do end up forming friendships and even lifelong bonds with many of our clients, but Brandon and Courtney are really special to me.
We went through an incredible engagement session where we recreated their proposal in stop motion, shared drinks in the strip district, and took what seemed like 39572859 polaroid photos.
Seriously.
It. was. a. LOT.
*Side note: It was also the first time my colleague Jen came with me to a shoot, and she didn’t complain once despite shooting well past dark to get the last of the polaroids done. That’s when I knew she was my second shooter soulmate.
Ok back to B + C.
We never lost touch. We texted, we called, we went over timelines and ideas and vendor lists and kept growing more and more excited for their big day.
Here’s where I could detail all the craziness that occurred; how I was almost thrown through the party bus windshield (still quite banged up but saved by a cooler), that they were competing with the royal wedding overseas, how it rained like crazy for about 5 minutes, that Mark worked his ass off to get a Polaroid photo of every single guest for a totally unique guestbook, what affect the DJ lights had on Brandon’s dad, how incredible Brandon and his college frat’s step dancing is (I got too close and did get stepped on a couple times but hey it was worth it for the shots), or any number of other things that made the day so wild, unique, and amazing, but that’s why we do our timelapse films.
Our goal is to take your wedding day, preserve it in the art we create, and give it back to you to keep for all time.
I don’t think there are any more words that I could give you to describe their day more perfectly than the film you’ll find below.
So to Brandon and Courtney: I love you guys, seriously. I can’t wait to see where life takes you.
And to everyone else who has made it this far: here is the list of incredible vendors who made the whole day possible, a few of our favorite details and moments from the day, and of course, our signature timelapse.
Love, K
